Selecting a Network Marketing or MLM Company

Of the 1000′s of network marketing companies that come and go how do you select the right one? There are several factors that you should look at. First you should select a company that you can feel passionate about. Passion sells and if you don’t feel it you will have a hard time getting others to join or buy your products. The company, it’s products and compensation plan must be appealing to you. You should also ask yourself if it will appeal to your prospects and customers as well.

You should ask yourself if this is something you can sell. The company along with everything that comes with it should have mass appeal and not just a small niche market appeal. For example a company that sells fishing lures for catching striped bass severely limits your market to a very small percentage of the population. Your target market would only be people who fish for striped bass. The rest of the population isn’t going to be interested.

The company must be owned and managed by people who are honest experienced and competent. Network marketing companies come and go and when one of them fail it’s always because someone made a poor decision or decisions. You can never know what company will survive or fail but if the management is honest experienced and competent the chances of the company sticking around are much greater.

There must already be a demand for the products and services a company offers, the bigger the demand the better. If there isn’t a demand already then you will have to create the market. It’s much easier to sell something that people already want than it is to try to create a market before you can sell your product or service.

The compensation plan must be fair to all distributors, however, must reward overachievers. It must reward and compensate those who over achieve, over produce and provide leadership above and beyond that of an average distributor. If a company makes promises of being fair to the little guy, the person who doesn’t produce, the lazy person, that’s a good signal to run. When you hear that someone is most likely not being honest.

The company must have something unique. Something that makes it stand out from the other companies. This will be one of your main selling points. Your company should have something that creates a sense of urgency for your prospects and customers. It should always be coming out with something new, an impending event that you can pre-promote.

That’s about all there is to selecting a company. If all of these factors are in place the rest is up to you and the decisions you make.
